Microsoft On Tuesday, he backed Anthropic and advocated for a temporary restraining order that would prevent the Pentagon from identifying supply chain risk “for all existing contracts.”
Microsoft said in a filing that such a move would “allow for a more orderly transition and avoid disrupting the American military’s ongoing use of advanced artificial intelligence.” “Otherwise, Microsoft and other technology companies must take immediate action to change the current product and contract configurations used by the DoW. This could potentially hinder U.S. warfighters at a critical time.”
Last week, the Department of Defense officially banned Anthropic’s technology and labeled the company a supply chain risk, a label historically reserved for foreign competitors. The designation will require defense suppliers and contractors to certify that they are not using Anthropic’s models in their work with the Pentagon.
Anthropic sued the Trump administration on Monday, calling the government’s actions “unprecedented and illegal” and claiming they “irreparably harmed Anthropic” and jeopardized contracts worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
