Josie Baff wins snowboard cross gold for Australia
– Livigno: Josie Baff won Australia’s second gold medal of the 2026 Winter Olympics with victory in the women’s snowboard cross final on Friday (local time).
Baff’s victory was Australia’s second gold medal at the Milan Cortina Games, after skier Cooper Woods won gold in the men’s senior category the day before.

The last time Australia won two gold medals at a single Winter Olympics was 2010, when Torah Bright and Lydia Lassila won gold in Vancouver; Before that, Steven Bradbury and Alisa Camplin won gold in Salt Lake City in 2002.
It is a sensational win for the 23-year-old from Jindabyne, who beat silver medalist world No. 7 Eva Adamczykova of Czechia and bronze medalist world No. 4 Michela Moioli of Italy in the final.
The 23-year-old player from Jindabyne, who is world number 2, beat some heavyweights on her way to the podium, eliminating world number 1 Charlotte Bankes and number 9 Sina Siegenthaler in the quarter-finals, and world number 3 Julia Nirani-Pereira in the semi-finals.
Baff won Australia’s first Youth Olympic gold medal in Lausanne in 2020 and then made her Olympic debut in Beijing in 2022, finishing 17th overall.
