British tourists in Spain were given a warning about a crime that “no one seems to be talking”. Holidaymakers, foreign registered and renting car rental “highway pirates” is called to pay attention.

Harry Poulton, a British immigrant living in Spain, published a video on social media to warn people against stopping while driving on the highways in Spain. 45,600 followers often said that thieves often marked the vehicles before robbing valuable items. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that people claiming to be police in unmarked cars.

Harry Poulton said: “If you rent a car, if you’re going to Spain on the highways – don’t shoot. Not for someone next to the highway with the dangers trying to mark you.

“Currently there are sign poles from Barcelona to Valencia in Spain.

“People are marked, normally there are two people in these cars, one will ask for help, the other is disturbing you.”

He added that the criminals then robbed the valuables from your car. Even if you think you’re helping someone, he’s calling people not to shoot on the highway.

Harry continued: “This scam is always in Spain and the regions of France. But nobody seems to be talking about it. Is there such a thing before? This is a warning.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs added: “‘Road pirates’ target foreign registered and especially cars hire cars.

“If you decide to stop to control the status of a vehicle, stand in a public area with lights like a service station. Be careful against everyone who offers help.”

They also said that unprocessed police vehicles were a flashing sign in the rear window that called “Policia” or “Guardia civilian”. The real police officers will never ask you to deliver your bag or wallet, but only ask for vehicle documents.
