Bob Weir, Grateful Dead co-founder and guitarist, dies at 78 years old

The death of Grateful Dead co-founder Bob Weir at the age of 78 was confirmed in a statement made by his family on his Instagram page.
“It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Bobby Weir. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, after courageously defeating cancer as only Bobby could,” the statement said. His statement was included and it was stated that he succumbed to lung problems.
“Bobby hit the road for over sixty years,” the statement continued. “A guitarist, vocalist, storyteller, and founding member of the Grateful Dead. Bobby will forever remain a guiding force whose unique artistry reshaped American music.”

His family wrote that his “work does more than fill rooms with music; it is warm sunshine that fills the soul, building a community, a language, and a sense of family that fans carry with them through generations.”
