UK’s oldest cold case: Louisa Dunne’s granddaughter breaks silence as man, 92, convicted

“I have only one memory to meet my grandmother because of the family conditions. I was 14 years old and visited her in the hospital.

“My mother told me that Louisa’s house on the Britannia Road was a social and political place of activity,” he continued. “My grandfather Edwin Parker was a member of the Early Labor Party and loved my grandmother. Unfortunately, he died in 1945 and the social and political elements of my grandmother’s life went with him.”

“People withdrew when they learned about the murder, including friends – there was a stamping of rape and murder of my experiences, so I rarely talked to anyone about it.”

Headley added that since he was accused, he has been struggling emotionally for people who are no longer alive and who could not see that justice was brought to Mrs. Dunne.

Avon and Somerset police had kept other judicial evidence to wait for Ms. Dunne’s clothes and progress in science. The case was re -examined in 2023 and Dunne’s blue skirt was determined for the test in May last year.

The DNA results matched Headley, who has been moved to Suffolk since the murder and was sentenced to imprisonment in 1977 to rape two old women.

The essay concluded that a pathologist died of asphaly due to drowning Dunne from a scarf and pressure on his mouth and was forcibly held on him.
