Minneapolis Police Chief Questions ICE Agent Who Shot Renee Good — Tells 60 Minutes He Violated ‘Basic Steps’ of Being An Officer

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara questioned the actions of ICE agent who shot and killed protester Renee Good during an interview earlier this month. 60 Minutes Sunday. O’Hara said the agent violated the “basic steps” officers know about approaching vehicles.
Correspondent Cecilia Vega He said the shooting had become a national “Rorschach test,” with some Americans seeing a “senseless murder” and others seeing “a police officer defending his life.”
O’Hara said he watched clips of the incident and asked why the officer was in front of Good’s SUV just before the shooting.
“I can’t understand why it appeared in the vehicle’s path more than once,” O’Hara said. “When you approach someone in a vehicle in a law enforcement encounter, there are very basic steps you take to ensure the safety of the officer and de-escalate the situation.”
Vega later said Vice President J.D. Vance “clearly” placed blame for the attack on Good the day after the attack. He also said Homeland Security officials accused Good and his partner of “stalking” immigration officers; Vega did not mention the footage DHS shared last week of Good blocking traffic with his vehicle for three minutes before agents approached him.
CBS News reported this week that the ICE agent said: Jonathan Ross — had internal bleeding after Good’s vehicle struck him just before he opened fire.
O’Hara told 60 Minutes He was in favor of “targeted, pre-planned operations against violent criminals” and said this was “a good thing”.
“But I think the people here [Trump] “The administration does not understand the reality of what is happening on the streets,” he added.
60 Minutes The crew also captured a rogue who told O’Hara that there was a “pig” who activated ICE while walking and talking with Vega.
“People have the right to say disrespectful things… but they cannot physically obstruct law enforcement from performing their duties,” O’Hara said. “These are illegal.”
