Car rego subsidy rush crashes Service Victoria app, website

Victoria’s utilities app and website have been hit by massive traffic congestion as people flock to get help registering cars.

A scheme to see Victorians have 20 per cent of their vehicle registrations expunged began on Monday, but citizens must apply through the Service Victoria app.

Details on how to apply were not available on the app early in the morning, and by late morning the app had crashed.

An error message in the app reads “We can’t connect to the server for this app or website at this time.”

“There may be too much traffic or configuration errors.”

Anyone trying to log in to Service Victoria from a computer will receive the following message: “We are experiencing some technical issues. We apologize for any inconvenience. Please try again later.”
