Missing girl, 11, last seen 6 years ago found 2,700 miles away from home | World | News

A young girl who went missing in 2020 was found safe 2,700 miles from home. Karen Rojas, identified by Missing Persons of America, disappeared on July 1, 2020, in Duarte, about 20 miles east of Los Angeles. Last Friday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department received information that an 11-year-old boy may be in Washington County, North Carolina.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said their investigation revealed the boy was enrolled at a local school “under an alias.” She wrote on Facebook: “After working with multiple agencies from NC to California, the child has been placed in protective custody and is SAFE!
“These are very rare events that lead to such a positive outcome in such an old case, but it reminds us that through hard work, dedication and collaboration, stories with positive outcomes like this can happen.”
No arrests were made, and due to Karen’s age and ongoing investigations, authorities declined to release further information.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said it would continue to investigate along with the Department of Family Services and authorities in North Carolina.
