MLA Seeks Clarity, Better Compensation for Corridor Evictees

Hyderabad: While concerns over lack of clarity and compensation for residents affected by proposed elevated corridor projects in Hyderabad were raised in the Assembly, Secunderabad Cantonment MLA Sriganesh Narayanan sought government intervention.
Speaking during the session, he said people likely to lose land or property in Cantonment, Malkajgiri and Medchal constituencies need clearer communication and fair compensation. The projects include planned elevated corridors from Paradise to Bowenpally and Jubilee Bus Station (JBS) to Shamirpet.
While acknowledging that the corridors are expected to improve connectivity to northern parts of Telangana, he said affected families face uncertainty. “People are unclear about how much land will be taken and how much compensation they will receive. This creates confusion and anxiety,” he said.
Noting that many had given up their homes or livelihoods for the projects, he called on the government to announce a “fair and better” compensation package for those who lost their property.
Another issue he raised was the lack of clarity regarding road widening. According to him, there is confusion among residents about the exact scope of land acquisition, leading to speculations and concerns in areas along the proposed routes.
The MLA also asked the government to direct officials to hold meetings with affected residents to explain project details and address their concerns.
Infrastructure projects must move forward, he said, but added that the process must be transparent and ensure those affected are adequately supported.
