Modi govt has will to fight terror, UPA was confused: Shiv Sena MP

The country is much safer under the Modi government and counter-terrorism capabilities have strengthened under his leadership, Deora told PTI Videos.
A day after Prime Minister Modi attacked the Congress, he was fielding questions demanding that the nation be informed of India’s military response following the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, which were linked to Pakistan.
“The biggest difference between the previous (UPA) government and the Modi government is that under Modi ji’s leadership, the government has the political will. If they try to spread terrorism anywhere, be it Pakistan or any domestic terrorist group, from Kashmir to Mumbai, this government has the political will to act,” Deora said.
“We are much safer and I want to give all the credit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Under his leadership, our counter-terrorism capabilities have been strengthened,” added the former Congress leader, who was a minister in the previous UPA government.
Referring to comments made by former Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, who is also in favor of military action against Pakistan, Modi on Wednesday said the UPA government, under some pressure from world powers including America, had taken diplomatic action to avoid starting a war. The Prime Minister did not mention Chidambaram’s name during his speech. On Congress leader Chidambaram’s comments, Deora said there was confusion in the past about dealing with this war. anti-social elements, terrorist outfits, domestic or foreign or Left Wing Extremists.
“Within the (then UPA) government, there was confusion between the government and the ruling party. Today, this confusion does not exist. Prime Minister Modi’s vision to ensure national security is very clear. Any person or outfit who tries to destabilize India and indulges in violence will be dealt with harshly,” the MP said. he said.
“Therefore, we can safely say that there has not been a single terrorist attack in a city like Mumbai in the last 12 or 13 years,” Deora said.
He claimed that the Navi Mumbai International Airport, which was inaugurated on Wednesday, was delayed by 10 years because although the then prime minister (Manmohan Singh) wanted the airport to get environmental clearance, some ministers deliberately delayed the project by trying to destabilize and weaken India.
Deora said there is “crystal clarity” on economic policy and national security under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership today.
