Mohamed Salah Criticizes UEFA Tribute For ‘Palestinian Pele’ Killed In Gaza

Gaza CITY, August 10 (Reuters) – Palestinian football “Pele” was hoping to score up to 50 years of age. The Israeli tank shell cut a dream early, her family, Suleyman Al -obeid’i killed this week to collect food in Southern Gaza, he said.
Obeid’s widow’s wife, Doaa Al-Obeid, mourned the 41-year-old striker with his and five children, and he grasped Al-Shati’yi the number 10 hearing for the Gaza club.
“This is the most valuable thing he left behind,” he said.
The family has a few items of Obeid, who was destroyed by a bombardment earlier this year. Now they live in a tent among the ruins of the city of Gaza.
Obeid, who resembles the Brazilian Great Pele for their skills and goals by fans, hit headlines this week after Liverpool Advanced Mohamed Salah criticized the reason for death by Europe’s administrative organ UEFA.
“Can you tell us how he died, where and why?” Salah wrote.
The Palestinian Football Association said Obeid was killed in an attack to collect aid by the Israeli army in Southern Gaza at a distribution point.
His family said he was a tank peel that killed him.

The Israeli army did not immediately respond to the request for comment and was not public about the death of Obeid.
Obeid, who played for the Palestinian national team, was still playing at his club in Gaza when the war between Israel and Hamas began in October 2023.
Hamas killed more than 1,200 people in the towns and villages of Israel. In response, Israel left a waste to the Gaza Strip, a coastal settlement area with more than 2 million people and killed 61,000 Palestinians.
Most air strikes were killed by artillery and gunfire, but an increasing number is starving.
‘This player is a gazelle’
Widow Doaa said Obeid continued to play throughout the difficulty.
“In the past, he used to train every day and never stopped, not a single day. Even in the war crisis, rockets, bombardment and mass killing, played. He used to collect his friends and loved ones and go to play with them,” he said.
The Palestinian Football Association says hundreds of athletes and sports officials are among those killed by Israel’s attack and most sports facilities have been destroyed.
Palestinian football fans say they will focus on Obeid’s heritage, not violent death.
Hassan Al-Balawi, a barber in the City of Gaza, said with a comparison with the French Great Thierry Henry, “Children called him Palestine Henry and Pele.”
“This player has enjoyed watching him when we stepped on the field. All Palestinian football fans enjoyed Captain Süliman Al -obeid.”
