Tenerife horror as Brit man found dead in hotel – police issue major update | World | News

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was killed in his hotel room in Spain.

Russell Watts, 63, from Rotherham, was found dead in his hotel room at the Hotel Catalonia Punta Del Rey in the Candelaria region of the Spanish island on Saturday, January 10. A 56-year-old woman from the Rotherham area was arrested today (Wednesday, February 25) on suspicion of murder. He currently remains in police custody.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Ben Wood said: “This is a complex case and our thoughts are first and foremost with Russell’s family, friends and loved ones.

“Our investigation into Russell’s death is still in its early stages and we are carrying out a number of comprehensive inquiries to piece together the events leading up to Russell’s death.

“We would really like to hear from anyone who was staying at the hotel at the time of Russell’s death.

“If you have seen anything suspicious or have relevant information that could assist our investigation, please let us know.

“Even the smallest piece of information can be very important and I would urge anyone who knows anything to contact us immediately.”
