A mother and daughter were rescued from waist-deep wet sand in Southend-on-Sea.

Adventure Island said one of its managers saw the couple stranded at Three Shells Lagoon after 5pm on Tuesday, March 10; “They were buried up to their waists in wet sand that had recently been placed there by the municipality due to the tide.”

The theme park added that workshop staff brought ropes to secure their surroundings and pull them to safety, while a crew member alerted the Coast Guard.

“We hope the mother and daughter are safe and well following the incident,” Adventure Island said. he said.
