‘More than a jeweller’: Michael Hill founder Sir Michael Hill dies, aged 86

Sir Michael Hill, the founder of the anonymous jewelery brand, died at the age of 86.
In April, Sir Hill resigned from his role on the board of directors to suffer cancer treatment.
The death of the founder was announced to the market on Tuesday.
“Sir Michael was a famous jewelery, entrepreneur, philanthropist and determined father and husband”.
Sir Hill founded Michael Hill in 1979 with his wife Lady Christine in Wangarei in New Zealand. Since then, the double -listed work had approximately 290 stores in Australia, NZ and Canada.
In a statement, the retailer Sir Hill’s first love was music and dreamed of being a concert violinist as a young man. However, it was only 17 years old, it was said that he started too late to reach the summit of his craft.
When he had to rethink his future, he joined his uncle’s family in NZ and returned to the world of jewelery. What started as a job has soon become a passion.
Michael Hill President Rob Fyfe said, “Every effort it follows has brought a deep sense of purpose, a permanent curiosity, open-minded curiosity and creativity, and a legacy that will continue to embrace us all the supreme goals and to be restricted in our thoughts.”
The Board said: “Michael Hill was much more than a jewelery, the Michael Hill, one of the most respected violin competitions in the world, established the Michael Hill International Violin Competition and created the hills that inspire new Zealand generations through New Zealand’s most iconic golf fields and books.”
