Morrisons is urging customers to cash in their share of £30m worth of unspent vouchers sooner Christmas. Shoppers are reminded to use unused More Card Fivers, which will expire after 12 months if not converted. The supermarket giant said millions of pounds worth of vouchers from its More Card loyalty scheme have yet to be spent.

Morrisons He encouraged customers to check it out as it could help reduce Christmas expenses. Under the More Card Fivers programme, customers with 5,000 points are given a £5 voucher for Morrisons. These are available online or in store. Users of the Morrisons app can convert points into cash at any time, while cardholders can arrange for a voucher to be printed in store.

Gareth Lloyd, Loyalty Director, said: Sun: “We know customers will be mindful of their budgets as Christmas approaches.

“That’s why we’re reminding our More Card customers to check their More Card Fivers before they start their Christmas shopping this year.”

He said unclaimed vouchers “can really make a difference”, whether it’s money from the big box Christmas store or helping reduce daily essentials ahead of December 25.

Morrisons is hoping to attract shoppers to its stores across the UK this Christmas as supermarkets scramble for the festive market.

Morrisons, whose history dates back to 1899, opened its first supermarket in Bradford in 1961. It opened its 100th store in 1999 and now has almost 500 sales points.

Earlier this month, the retailer announced staff were rolling out a slower checkout experience for four days as part of a campaign to combat loneliness.

Morrisons staff taking part in Good Morning Britain’s 1 Million Minutes took out more time to chat with customers between December 4-7. Morrisons said its involvement was part of its commitment to tackling loneliness alongside its charity partners this Christmas.

This included a £50,000 donation from the Morrisons Foundation to fund 100 festive treats for the Royal Voluntary Service and the provision of 400 free Christmas meals in Morrisons cafes with Age UK.
