Ira Bindra, head of human resources at Reliance Industries Ltd., has been named one of the world’s top CHROs, making Reliance the only Indian company on the list. Late Friday, N2Growth, a global leader in executive search and leadership consulting, announced its 2025 Leaders40 Top Human Resources Executives (CHRO) Awards.
Leading CHROs from some of the world’s largest and most powerful companies appear on this year’s list, including Lisa Buckingham (Vialto Partners), Matthew Breitfelder (Apollo Global Management), Robin Leopold (JPMorganChase), Christy Pambianchi (Caterpillar Inc.), Trisha Conley (LyondellBasell), Maral Kazanjian (Moody’s) and Donna Morris (Walmart).
Bindra is the first Indian woman executive of an Indian company to make the list and Reliance is the only Indian company on the list.
It ranked 28th on the list. “Ira is a global Human Resources and business transformation leader with more than two decades of experience driving growth, innovation and organizational excellence across Fortune 100 companies and high-growth organizations.
“His career spans many industries, geographies and business lifecycles where he has led integrated business, people and culture strategies that deliver high performance and sustainable transformation,” his citation said.
In his role as President-People and Talent at Reliance Industries Limited, India’s largest privately held company and a Fortune Global 500 (No. 88) company with revenues of over US$119 billion, Ira partners with the President, Executive Committee and business leaders to develop the company’s people and culture agenda.
“He is leading enterprise-wide talent and culture transformation for Reliance’s 360,000-strong workforce spanning energy, retail, telecommunications, media and green technologies,” he added.
Prior to joining Reliance, Bindra held a number of senior global HR leadership positions at Medtronic, the world’s largest medical device company. She previously worked at General Electric for 19 years, holding a variety of HR leadership positions in healthcare, oil and gas, technology infrastructure, corporate and GE Capital in both established and emerging markets.
He holds a BA (Hons.) in History from Lady Shri Ram College, University of Delhi, and an MBA from Maastricht Business School, Netherlands.
N2Growth founder Mike Myatt first introduced the Forbes Top CHRO List in 2015, and it quickly rose to prominence as one of the human resources industry’s most respected and highly anticipated rankings.
The list was officially recognized as the Leaders40 Award in 2020, thanks to a collaboration between N2Growth and the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Since then, N2Growth has been delighted to bestow the industry’s highest award on the world’s best CHROs.
“We have seen the CHRO role change over the last decade,” said Tony Morales, leader of the Leaders40 Selection Committee and co-chair of N2Growth. “Today’s CHROs are now not only people leaders, but also strategic partners to CEOs and boards, driving performance, culture and transformation to the highest level.”
After reviewing hundreds of candidates and conducting more than a hundred in-depth interviews, the Leaders40 Selection Committee selects the top 40 CHROs who set the bar for excellence in human capital management.
