MP Congress Media Wing Chief’s Resignation Exposes Rift In Party

-Bhopal: Infighting in Madhya Pradesh’s Congress unit came to the fore after the party’s state media department head resigned from his post.
Mukesh Nayak, media department head of Madhya Pradesh’s Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), on Saturday tendered his resignation from his post ‘to pave the way for a new face’ to take charge of the state party’s media wing.
His resignation comes in the wake of the ongoing tussle between him and media department in-charge Abhay Tiwari over the party’s formation of a talent hunt committee to appoint media spokespeople in Madhya Pradesh.
On December 9, Congress affairs in-charge of Madhya Pradesh, Sanjay Kamle, constituted an 11-member committee to register talents in the state for selection of media spokespersons.
Interestingly, the committee was chaired by Mr. Tiwari but Mr. Nayak’s absence from it led to infighting within the party.
On December 23, a sullen Mr. Nayak reconstituted a 13-member committee for selection of the party’s media spokespersons in the state.
The new committee formed by Mr. Nayak appointed Mr. Tiwari as its coordinator and party MLA Arif Masood as the deputy coordinator.
Annoyed by this development, Mr. Tiwari declared the new committee null and void, claiming that it was not approved by the PCC.
Interestingly, PCC president Jitu Patwari welcomed the new committee formed by Mr. Nayak in a social media post.
However, he deleted the post when the issue turned into a major debate within the party.
Mr Tiwari later issued a scathing statement targeting Mr Nayak on the party’s WhatsApp group, saying: “Such immature orders are given when the party faces the possibility of collapse.”
Mr. Nayak’s resignation came after this development.
However, PCC chief Mr Patwari immediately rejected Mr Nayak’s resignation and asked him to continue his duties.
