M&S launches ‘secret support’ pants that offer men a ‘subtle lift’ | Underwear for men
For men who complain about shrinking jeans or who feel insecure in the office when their trousers don’t push up their genitals all day, Marks & Spencer comes to the rescue.
The retailer, the UK market leader in underwear sales, has launched what could be considered the male equivalent of a push-up bra.
M&S menswear director Mitch Hughes said the new range of “hidden support trousers” was “all about helping men feel their most confident”. The cotton shorts will offer “a slight lift and improved fit thanks to a smart, simple design.”
How subtle the removal will be is probably up to the user. The trousers are worn by Friday night influencers Tom Sheard and Stanley DruHe said: “Size isn’t everything, but confidence is.”
For some, this item will bring to mind the codpiece, the accessory everyone wore in 15th and 16th century Europe.
The idea was closed and attracted attention to a part of the body that people shouldn’t talk about.

Other spectacular codpieces in art include a chain mail codpiece in the work of Titian. Portrait of Francesco Maria Della Rovere (1536-38) in the Uffizi in Florence, and there is a more startlingly naturalistic work in Giovanni Battista Moroni’s (1565) Portrait of Antonio Navagero; Jonathan Jones of the Guardian once wrote about it: “It juts out enormously from her fur-lined dress, like an erotic accessory photographed by Robert Mapplethorpe.”
M&S said the new range focuses on men’s health. It was stated that the trousers combine innovative design with hidden support (TM) technology and promise a new inner pouch that will lift and provide support “all day long” without being noticed.
