In Minneapolis, scores of people were arrested overnight after agitators arrived at a hotel and clashed with federal agents who used tear gas and flash grenades to disperse the group following the fatal shooting of an American citizen by Border Patrol agents over the weekend.

Border Patrol agents were seen pointing rifles at agitators and members of the press standing near the entrance of the hotel where demonstrators believed Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents were staying.

In the video, many people could be seen blowing whistles and banging bells as agitators at the front of the crowd tried to break through the front doors of the hotel.

“Where are the local police?” an agent asked a group of journalists:

Agents eventually pushed the crowd back and threatened to arrest the agitators and journalists; The video showed an agent pushing a member of the press to the ground.

Some agitators used shovels to remove the banner from the hotel, while others threw snowballs as security tried to barricade the entrance to the building.

The group eventually stopped reaching inside but remained at the entrance while officers kept the doors closed.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety said arrests were made because the demonstration was “not peaceful.”

“Minnesota State Patrol and DNR were called to assist Minneapolis police with damage to hotel property at the Home2 Suites Hotel on University Avenue,” the agency wrote in X.

“While we worked jointly to arrest the group because the demonstration was not peaceful, federal agents arrived without communication and cleared the group using chemical irritants. The State Patrol and DNR are no longer on scene,” the statement added.

The shooting follows the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old American citizen who was killed Saturday by Border Patrol agents while recording federal immigration operations in Minneapolis.

Pretti, a critical care nurse, appears to be trying to help a woman who agents had knocked out, pushed to the ground and beaten when they sprayed her with an irritant, according to video and eyewitness accounts. An agent was then seen removing Pretti’s legally owned firearm from his waistband, and other agents fired several shots, killing him.
