Mulugu Police Dismiss Medaram Rape Rumours As Fake

-Warangal: Police on Tuesday denied viral social media reports alleging rape or attempted rape of an underage girl during Medaram Maha Jatara in Mulugu district.

In an official press note, police said the rumors were false and unfounded and warned that those responsible for the malicious campaign would face legal action.

The statement comes after hours of intense speculation online over allegations that a minor was targeted during the height of the tribal festival.

Narlapur Police said they carried out on-site investigation and reviewed field investigation and hospital records in the festival area to verify these allegations. Police said, “The investigation concluded that no such incident took place. There was no such complaint during the four-day event.”

Police warned that “the dissemination of such inflammatory news is a serious offense under the law, especially when it involves a small and mass public gathering.”

“We have noticed some people circulating these false claims. We are identifying the source of these posts. Anyone found to be sharing or creating misleading news about this non-existent incident will be arrested and face prosecution under relevant sections of BNS and IT Act,” the police warned.
