Murder arrest after 18-day-old baby falls from central London property | London

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after an 18-day-old girl fell from a property in central London.
The Metropolitan Police said officers attended Horseferry Road in Westminster on Saturday morning following reports that a baby had fallen from the residence.
It was determined that the newborn who was taken to the hospital died.
Police added that a 43-year-old woman was arrested and detained at the scene on suspicion of murder.
Met DCI Alison Foxwell said: “Our thoughts are with the baby’s family today.
“The death of a baby is always an extremely tragic event and officers are conducting an urgent investigation into this situation.
“At this stage we believe the incident occurred in a local context but we would urge anyone with information to come forward.”
A spokesman for the London ambulance service said the baby was treated at the scene before being taken to a major trauma centre.
A police cordon covered much of Great Peter Street on Saturday evening and two coroners were seen working in a third-floor flat in Peabody Manor.
