Murder charge after dog walker killed

A 22-year-old man has been charged with murder and attempted murder following a triple stabbing in Uxbridge.

Afghan national Safi Dawood, of Midhurst Gardens in Uxbridge, was charged with the murder of Wayne Broadhurst, 49, who was walking his dog.

Police were called to reports that three people had been stabbed in Midhurst Gardens in Uxbridge on Monday and paramedics were treating three victims for stab wounds.

A 45-year-old man was treated in hospital with life-changing injuries, while a 14-year-old boy was released from hospital after the incident.

The Metropolitan Police said Mr Dawood was not known to Mr Broadhurst but was known to two other alleged victims.

Police added that the man required hospital treatment after “experiencing a medical episode” and was later returned to police custody.

The Home Office confirmed that the suspect entered the UK in a lorry in November 2020, was granted asylum and permission to remain in 2022, and was not living in Home Office accommodation.

He also faces a charge of possessing an offensive weapon and will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, October 30.
