‘Murdered’ man who disappeared five years ago found ‘safe and well’

A man reported missing five years ago turned up at a police station just days after multiple arrests for alleged murder.

Ismail Ali, from Bradford, was last seen leaving a store on Cumberland Road on May 29, 2020.

But Mr Ali reported himself to West Yorkshire Police Station on Wednesday and said he was “safe and well” just days after five men were arrested on suspicion of murder.

On Monday, three women, aged 47, 54 and 55, and two men, aged 27 and 51, were arrested and released on bail after police executed warrants at addresses on Beckside Road and Cumberland Road.

West Yorkshire Police said: “Detectives investigating the suspicious disappearance of Ismail Ali from Bradford in 2020 can confirm that he attended a police station yesterday (November 19) and reported being safe and well.

“Officers are trying to understand the full circumstances surrounding his disappearance.”

West Yorkshire Police said Mr Ali’s family had been notified he was safe and well. It was also stated that the person was protected while the necessary checks were carried out.

Following the arrests made on Monday, 3 houses were searched and a large amount of money was seized. Some of those arrested were released on bail due to money laundering charges.

Police said, “Investigations regarding money laundering crimes will continue for a while. Officers thank the citizens who shared Mr. Ali’s objection.”
