Musi project is core to urban renewal in Hyderabad: CM

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday outlined an ambitious vision for urban renewal of Hyderabad and Musi river restoration is at the heart of it. He was speaking at the inauguration of the 85-acre Eco Hill Park at Kothwalguda near Himayatsagar.

Describing the Musi as a long-neglected waterway turned into a sewer by years of encroachment and civic indifference, the Prime Minister said his government would develop a riverfront along its banks, complete with a night economy zone, to support the livelihood of thousands of residents. “No one should have to live next to a dirty Musi,” he said, contrasting what he described as a decade of willful neglect by the previous administration.

Mr. Revanth Reddy positioned the riverside project as central to his government’s broader aim to make Hyderabad a world-class city, citing the proposed high-speed rail hub at Shamshabad, with connectivity to Bengaluru, Amaravati and Chennai, and the expected arrival of global firms as signs of the city’s direction. He rejected criticism from BRS leaders, accusing them of hindering development despite doing little in the years they were in power. The Prime Minister also announced that Indiramma housing units will be constructed on government lands in the respective constituencies and the displaced families will be rehabilitated with all facilities.
