50 kg more explosives recovered in Sector 56, day after Delhi blast; 2 arrested

Crime Branch conducted an operation in Sector 56 in Faridabad and seized around 50 to 60 kilograms of explosives, IANS reported. This happened a day after the explosion at the Red Fort in Delhi. 2 suspects were detained regarding the incident. Investigations continue. Earlier on Monday, Dr. Muzammil Ganaie was arrested after 360 kg of explosives were seized from the room he rented in Faridabad.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police registered an FIR in connection with the blast near Red Fort under UAPA and conducted raids at several places in the national capital as initial findings suggested a link with the terror module unearthed in Faridabad.

Delhi blast case transferred to NIA

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has handed over the investigation into a blast near the Red Fort to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), sources said. This is a clear indication that the blast, which has killed 12 people so far, is considered an act of terrorism by the government as the NIA is mandated to investigate only terrorism cases. The decision came hours after Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the security situation in the national capital and other parts of the country following the blast.

Delhi Red Fort Explosion

The explosion occurred in a slow-moving car at traffic signals near the Red Fort subway station on Monday evening, killing at least 12 people and gutting several vehicles, authorities said.
