“My name is Samrat Choudhary, not a bulldozer,” said Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, who also heads the home ministry, in his speech in the State Assembly on Thursday, December 4, 2025, in response to the Opposition’s accusation that the new State government is following the “bulldozer model” of Uttar Pradesh against illegal encroachments.

“Bihar knows that: Sushasan Mr. Choudhary said fellow Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha got into an argument with RJD legislators who accused the government of “jungle raj”.

“We will soon use bulldozers against those patronizing the sand, soil and liquor mafia,” Mr. Sinha said. Treasury and Opposition MPs are locked in a debate over the Governor’s speech to joint sittings of Parliament on 3 December.

On Wednesday, December 3, 2025, the Opposition CPI (ML) staged a statewide sit-in, accusing the BJP of copying UP’s “bulldozer action” in Bihar. “Bulldozers are being used to destroy the homes and livelihoods of the poor and Dalits across the state,” CPI (ML) general secretary Kunal said.

“Of course, there is a crackdown on illegal rapes as per the court’s directions. The crackdown on the mafia will also continue,” Mr. Choudhary said.

During debates on the penultimate day of the five-day winter session of the Assembly, Opposition members also questioned the “fairness” of the recently concluded Assembly elections. The NDA coalition won 202 out of 243 seats in the Assembly elections, while the Opposition mahagathbandhan (The Grand Alliance) only managed to win 35.

“Some of the opposition members have directed their anger at Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, whose fame has now reached far-flung lands. He is currently chairing an international panel,” said the state’s parliamentary affairs minister, Vijay Kumar Chaudhary. Mr. Kumar served as the President of the Sweden-based International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IIDEA).

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, in his 20-minute speech, praised the Centre’s cooperation with the NDA government.
