‘My son left the house like every other day – 18 minutes later, he would never return’

When Carly Calland remembers Jacob, the son of Jacob, a child is always busy and paintings in motion.
“He was always dressed, through the door, with his friends all day, come back, food, sleep, computers.
On March 19, however, Jacob Calland left his family’s house from his home in Wythenshawe in Manchester for the last time. Only 18 minutes after closing the front door, a 14 -year -old disaster confused. He was riding as a passenger behind his friend’s e-SCOOTER, both of them were not wearing any protection.
Carly never allowed Jacob to his e-SCOOTER, and often warned him that they were “illegal and dangerous .. But he says “a divided second decision”, which costs someone else’s life. He’s looking now For more tight arrangements around the vehicles.
“I was at my mother’s house in the afternoon of the accident and I got a phone call from my wife, Car Carly remembered. “To be honest, at first, ‘Oh, what did he do now?’ I thought.

“I knew he was overthrown, but I didn’t know how serious it was – and I didn’t want to believe.”
Carly ran to the scene and found her son in a coma behind an ambulance. While being taken to the hospital, he followed what he described as a “longest” journey.
“I was just thinking, what did he do? Is he alive? How bad?” he said. “I didn’t know what happened at this point. I just knew you were in a coma.”
When he arrived, the police were waiting. They explained to him that Jacob was behind an E-Scooter involved in an accident. Jacob was in a hurry for scans that revealed that there was a great bleeding in his brain. The medical officials decided to keep him in a coma in order to prevent his brain from swelling and to rest his body.
“It was surreal to see your baby like this, Car Carly said. “I don’t even know how to explain this. It was scary.”
Next week, Jacob was held in intensive care and was looked at by doctors for 24 hours. But eight days after the collision, Jacob died after a cardiac posture.
Im I felt very weak, Car Carly said. “You feel as if things have been removed from your control and there is nothing you can do about it. You feel like you’re your mother, you must protect them.
“When they told me, I feel like everything was taken from me.

Almost five months after tragedy, Carly is trying to try to make sure that those who are energy for Jacob are not for anyone. He launched the journey of Jacob, a campaign to change the law on the use of E-SCOOTER and calls for more strict arrangements.
Jacob’s journey Petition to the government To prohibit the sale and use of e-SCOOTER to anyone under the age of 18, to make it necessary to make helmets and protection and to forbid the transport of passengers. Applying a special E-SCOOTER on a public road or on the sidewalk is currently illegal, but they are widely found for sales. There is no legal minimum age to buy a private e-SCOOTER in the UK.
“Jacob will never come back for me, so what I do does not make any difference in my life,” he continued. “I do this from the good of my heart to save other people’s lives.”
As part of the campaign, he released a video telling the destructive story behind Jacob’s death. He said that he hoped to put his life in the “most raw form” and encouraged other people to “stop and think” before making the same choice.
“He left the front door and wasn’t here anymore after 18 minutes,” he said. “He went behind Scooter and didn’t think twice about the reflections.
“This may be your conclusion. I never thought it would happen to me, Jacob never thought it would happen to me.”
The Great Manchester police continued to object to witnesses regarding the collision and issued an objection to watch the driver of a white 2015 Kia Venga, which they believe that they could have “vital information ..
Steve Pennington, the detective officer, said: “This was a really tragic event that ruined the family of a young child. Our thoughts remain with Yakup’s loved ones and we continue to support his family while visiting these unimaginable losses.
Iz We are very enthusiastic to talk to the White Kia Venga’s driver who can witness the moments that cause collision.
The Transport Spokesperson Department said: “Road security is the most important priority. Every death on our roads is a tragedy and thoughts with everyone who has lost someone who is loved in this way.
“The use of private e-SCOOTS is illegal in any public sphere. It is illegal to drive the scooters on the sidewalk, and local authorities must be a plan to overcome such behaviors.”
