Nagaland TV journalist shot in Manipur

On Saturday, August 30, 2025, the attacker shot and wounded a journalist of a Nagaland -based satellite news channel in the Senapati region of LAII Village Manipur.

Bottom Saikia, a reporter Hornbill TVIt covered a flower festival. Bullet wounds under the armpits and a leg continued.

While the peasants were capturing the attacker, the reporter ran to a local hospital. The first information report (FIR) was made to the nearest police station.

Condemn the attack, Hornbill TV Editor Dzuthono Mekro said that while involving a cultural event, shooting a reporter was not only an attack but also the freedom of press and democratic values.

“Such violence, justice, transparency and accountability for media professionals should not be tolerated and not in a society that values.”

Authorized, Nagaland and Manipur governments, law enforcement officers and all relevant officials called on a comprehensive and impartial investigation about this disgusting attack.

Ms. Mekro asked the attacker and any criminal partner to be rapidly brought to justice to send a strong message against journalists that crimes would not be unpunished.
