Naidu Announces Rs 5 crore Thrift Fund For Handloom Workers

Vijayawada: Prime Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced that 5 crore savings funds have been established for hand -woven workers. He also announced that a plan that promises 200 free electricity and 500 unit of power stalls for hand -woven from the August 7 National Handloom Day.
Naidu said on Tuesday that the state government has taken several important decisions to support the hand weaving industry and help weavers.
The Prime Minister held a review meeting in the Textile department in the Secretariat. The discussion focused on how hand -weavers can be supported in the best possible way. “Handlooms is the most important sector after agriculture. The need is to stand by those who trust it for their livelihood.” He said.
Naidu drew his attention during the last visit to Jammalamadugu, where Weaver families interacted.
“200 free electricity will be provided for Handlooms and 500 unit power stalls. Authorities should immediately start as necessary to implement this initiative.” He said.
Another important decision taken during the examination was GST for Handloom Fabrics. Naidu said the state government agreed to fully transport GST in hand -made fabrics. The government would pay the GST, which was held by hand, directly to the center. “This decision fulfills a promise we made during the elections.”
Authorities, this movement will make the products more affordable, will increase sales and ultimately benefit from weavers, he said.
The Prime Minister proposed to establish 5 Crore Savings Fund for hand workers. He said that all these steps will be implemented on the National Elloom Day from 7 August.
The senior officials of the textile department attended the examination.
