Nancy Guthrie cops investigating possible ransom note in hunt for anchor’s missing mom

The desperate search for Savannah Guthrie’s kidnapped mother Nancy took another dramatic turn Tuesday, with investigators now looking into possible ransom notes.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Office acknowledged a ransom note sent to TMZ on Tuesday afternoon, three days after the 84-year-old man was kidnapped in the middle of the night from his $1 million home in Tucson, Arizona; This triggered a desperate search.

Tucson TV station KOLD also said it received a ransom note. It is unclear whether both notes are the same.

TMZ In the note, which he said he could not confirm was sent by the kidnappers, he stated that millions of Bitcoins were requested for the release of the 84-year-old person.

The outlet said the note requested that Bitcoin be sent to a specific cryptocurrency address, which it verified as a real Bitcoin address.

The note ended with a deadline for the ransom to be paid ‘or else’.

TMZ said there were details not known to the public, such as the damage to Nancy’s home and what she was wearing when she was kidnapped.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos did not confirm the contents of either note in his statement.

“We take all tips and leads very seriously,” Nanos said. ‘Everything that comes in goes directly to our detectives who coordinate with the FBI.’

After Today star Savannah Guthrie’s 84-year-old mother was kidnapped late Saturday night or Sunday morning, Nanos was asked if ‘any demands were made by the kidnappers’.

Speaking at a press conference in Tucson, Arizona, on Tuesday, Nanos digressed, saying: ‘There are all kinds of investigative leads we’re working on.’

Another reporter in the room noticed Nanos’ evasiveness and asked: ‘You were asked if there was a ransom, you didn’t say no… does that mean there is a ransom coming?’

Once again Nanos dodged the question and simply said: ‘We are following all leads.’

There was no note of hope in Tuesday’s question-and-answer session.

Nanos has repeatedly said investigators do not know Nancy’s whereabouts and cannot provide information on a possible suspect or suspects.

The sheriff also addressed reports that a doorbell camera was removed from Nancy’s home, saying it was unclear whether it was removed before Nancy’s abduction.

Nanos added that no foreign cars were seen in the area at the time Nancy was abducted and no tire tracks were found.

Few new details about Nancy’s disappearance were offered at Tuesday’s press conference, and FBI agent Jon Edwards spoke only briefly to urge the public to come forward with any information that might help investigators.

Edwards said the FBI did “everything we could” to “bring Nancy home,” including downloading cell phone tower data, conducting interviews and analyzing surrounding data.

“Every tip or tip counts,” Edwards added.

Nanos said authorities had no information about Nancy’s clothing or the car in which she might have been kidnapped.

Outside the Tucson home on Tuesday, the rural property was surrounded by a swarm of media but no sign of police despite being an active crime scene.
