Rama Kistapuram Rate Puram Flyover, Rao Nagar and Ecil region Trimulgherry, which was built twenty years ago to replace the railway level transition, continue to be the only important connection for thousands of vehicles traveling from Nededmet to Nededmet towards Karkhana and Secunderabad. Despite its strategic importance, the bridge has become the symbol of permanent security concerns and the people’s disappointing urban neglect.

Without a central barricade that separates the two traffic direction, the narrow strips of the bridge forces the drivers to risk overtaking maneuvers. Sudden deviations, the lack of weak strip discipline and traffic calming measures, usually led to a consistent small accident flow that leaves two -wheeled vehicles vulnerable. Although not often not fatal, these events are frequent and destructive.

“I use this route twice a day. The absence of a separatist makes it free for everyone,” he said. “You are finally playing chicken with approaching vehicles.”

For elderly residents such as 62 -year -old Rukminini, a retired nurse from Nerdermet Nirmal Nagar, is completely prevented in a row. “There is almost no street lighting at night. A danger, especially for the elderly. In busy hours, I prefer the longer route through the canton region from Ammuguda.”

Young passengers share similar concerns. Rithwik, a 19 -year -old student, said, “Every time I take over my scooter at busy hours, I pass a high alarm. It’s a mistake by everyone and it’s a pile.”

Online, sounds grew loudly. X (formerly twitter) users routinely publish irregular driving and videos of small accidents. When an account called ‘Hiscunderabad’ sends a photo of a two -wheeled rider to pass the bridge to cross the bridge, a user said, “When Free Road itself is not sufficient for four wheels, don’t expect people to follow the rules.” He said. “Yes, the roads are pathetic. Yes, it is not enough space for the vehicle movement. But this cannot be the reason for violating it.”

Meanwhile, the Büyük Hyderabad Municipality Company (GHMC), after a detailed assessment by the engineering department, recently launched its structural restoration under the Flyover’s 4.6 Crore plan.

The proposed restoration includes the replacement of expansion joints and distressed bearings, the processing of damaged beams and crack sections, the application of anti-carbonation paint to protect the exposed surfaces against further deterioration.

While these measures aim to extend the life of the structure, the inhabitants claim that they are insufficient to address the key design flaw: the median, road expansion and lack of dangerous narrow lanes. “You cannot solve a traffic problem with the help of engineering tape, Sridi said Sridhar, a pediatrician in a nearby clinic. “This bridge was not built for today’s traffic volume or speed.”

Although GHMC proposed a parallel two -lane bridge as part of the strategic road development program in previous years, progress stopped.

For now, the bridge remains both necessary and insecure. It combines all neighborhoods, but at daily cost to security and peace of mind.
