The Great Ocean Road flash floods in 26 photos

More than 180 millimeters of rain fell in four hours in what authorities called a “freak storm.” In a region that rarely sees this much rainfall in a month, the results were nothing short of disastrous.

According to Victoria’s State Control Centre, between 200 and 400 people were evacuated due to flash flooding in low-lying areas from Lorne to Point Hawdon as a result of the South West Floods, referred to as the Barwon South West Floods.

Miraculously, despite scenes of massive destruction miles down the coast, no people are missing and reported injuries are limited to a single, non-life-threatening incident.
