National Lok Adalat settles over one lakh cases across Telangana

More than one lakh compound cases were resolved across Telangana during the National Lok Adalat held on December 21, providing relief to plaintiffs and facilitating refunds to victims of cyber fraud.

Lok Adalat prescribed by the Supreme Court was aimed at amicable resolution of disputes through consolidation. In preparation, the police identified suitable cases and notified both parties; The process started on December 11 and ended on December 21. According to the official compilation of destroyed cases in 2025, a total of 1,05,182 cases were destroyed during the Lok Adalat held on December 21.

Of the cases decided on that day, 14,108 were FIR-related composite cases, 215 were related to Disaster Management Act, 55,497 were e-petty cases and 31,599 were related to Motor Vehicles Act violations. Police said the cybercrime cases covered 3,763 localities and refunds of Rs 19.50 crore were returned to the victims.

Among police divisions, Rachakonda recorded the highest number of cases with 23,671 cases, followed by Hyderabad with 14,771 cases, Nalgonda with 7,886 cases, Cyberabad with 6,936 cases and Gadwal with 6,024 cases. Police said all units in the state performed well in clearing complex cases during Lok Adalat.

National Lok Adalat has been described as a platform that reduces the burden of repeated court appearances, saves time and money for both parties, and offers faster closure. Citizens were encouraged to utilize such forums to resolve appropriate disputes.

According to official records, in 2025, Telangana police solved a total of 7,22,487 cases in four National Lok Adalats and one Special Lok Adalat.

The success of the exercise was attributed to the coordination between the Telangana State Legal Services Authority, District Magistrates, Magistrates, District Legal Services Officers, Commissioners of Police and Superintendents of Police. ADGP Law and Order Director General of Police Mahesh M. Bhagwat congratulated Rachakonda, Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Nalgonda and Gadwal police departments and appreciated the efforts of CID and SCRB officers for their role in the process.
