MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF RUSSIA
“This morning the United States committed an act of armed aggression against Venezuela. This is extremely alarming and reprehensible.”

“In the current situation, it is important, above all, to prevent further escalation of tensions and to focus on finding a way out of the situation through dialogue.”
“Latin America must remain a region of peace, as it declared in 2014. And Venezuela must be guaranteed the right to self-determination without any subversive intervention, let alone military intervention.”

IRAN’S SUPREME LEADER Ayatollah Ali Khamenei:

“Trusting in God Almighty, relying on God and relying on the support of the people, with God’s permission and divine grace, we will bring the enemy to his knees.”
SPANISH MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS:
“Spain calls for de-escalation and moderation, and for action always in accordance with international law and the principles of the UN Charter.”

“Trinidad and Tobago is NOT a participant in any of these ongoing military operations. Trinidad and Tobago continues to maintain peaceful relations with the Venezuelan people.”
RODERICH KIESEWETTER, LEADING MEP OF GERMANY’S CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIAN DEMOCRATIC UNION:

“From a human rights perspective, the end of his rule is good news.”
REFORMING ENGLAND NIGEL FARAGE, LEADER OF THE UK PARTY
“America’s actions overnight in Venezuela are unorthodox and against international law, but that could be a good thing if they make China and Russia think twice.”
“I hope the Venezuelan people can now turn a new page without Maduro.”
ITALIAN OPPOSITION PARTY LEADER AND FORMER PRIME MINISTER GIUSEPPE CONTE:
“America’s aggression against Venezuela has no legal basis. We are facing a blatant violation of international law, which documents the dominance of the militarily strongest and best equipped… I hope the entire international community will make its voice heard and everyone will understand that no one can feel safe if the rules apply only to enemies and not friends. Nor can the illiberal nature of a government’s rule justify an attack on a sovereign state.”
MARC WELLER, International Law Program Director at Chatham House Think Tank, UK
“International law prohibits the use of force as an instrument of national policy. Outside the UN Chapter VII mandate, force may only be used in response to an armed attack or possibly to rescue a population under imminent threat of annihilation.”
“Clearly, the armed operation against Venezuela meets neither of these requirements. The claims that the United States has an interest in suppressing the drug trade or that the Maduro government is essentially a criminal organization provide no legal justification.”
