Navi Mumbai Airport set to commence operations on Dec 25; all you need to know

Navi Mumbai airport features an iconic lotus flower-inspired terminal design, delivered by Adani Group and Navi Mumbai International Airport Ltd (NMIAL).
Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) will begin commercial operations from Thursday, December 25. The new airport will shorten travel time, stimulate tourism and attract large-scale investments to the region. The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO), the implementing agency of the ambitious aviation project, said that there will be 30 Air Traffic Movements (arrivals and departures) on the first day of operations at the airport, PTI reported.

The airport features an iconic lotus flower-inspired terminal design, delivered by Adani Group and Navi Mumbai International Airport Ltd (NMIAL). It was stated that the launch of operations will be a catalyst for regional economic growth, benefiting the residents of Navi Mumbai and surrounding cities such as Pune, Thane, Panvel, Raigad and Konkan region.
First day of operations
On the first day of operations, flights of major carriers including IndiGo, Akasa Air, Air India Express and Star Air will be arriving and departing from the facility with IndiGo flight 6E 460 from Bengaluru; Flight 6E 882 will take off for Hyderabad at 8.40 am.
The launch is expected to significantly ease congestion at the existing Mumbai international airport while establishing a robust multi-airport system for the region. “The commencement of operations at Navi Mumbai International Airport reflects the continued commitment of the government of Maharashtra and CIDCO towards infrastructure development,” said Vijay Singhal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, CIDCO.
“This landmark project symbolizes our commitment to futuristic infrastructure, inclusive growth and global connectivity. It is a proud moment for every citizen who believes in this vision and has supported this journey over the years,” he said.
