Navi Mumbai International Airport hosts mega drone show ahead of operational launch

Navi Mumbai International Airport held a drone demonstration featuring 1,515 drones on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, ahead of the operational launch of the airport.
The new airport, promoted by Adani Group, will begin commercial operations on Thursday, December 25, 2025.

NMIA said in a statement that the drones moved in seamless coordination and created stunning aerial formations like 3D lotus flowers, lotus designed interiors, airport logo, green airport, aircraft flying over Mumbai, rise of India and others, all centered around the theme of the airport.
It was stated that the night brought together innovation and art, turning the night sky into a canvas of unforgettable and visually interesting shows.

The newest facility, the second airport in the Mumbai Metropolitan region after Mumbai International Airport, is set to become one of India’s busiest and most important aviation hubs.
Spanning over 1,160 hectares (2,866 acres), NMIA is designed to handle 90 million passengers per year (MPPA) upon completion. It was stated that the airport will have two parallel runways, terminal buildings and advanced cargo facilities, providing a perfect passenger experience and efficient cargo handling.
In the first phase, NMIA will have the capacity to handle 20 million passengers and 0.5 million metric tons of cargo annually.
