NBN Co signs satellite internet deal with Jeff Bezos and Amazon’s Project Kuiper – opting to avoid Elon Musk’s Starlink
“We have determined that Amazon is the best partner for us to deliver it.
“We are proud of what Sky Muster offers for Far Australia in the last decade, and now it’s time to develop.”

The executive will not be taken from the financial conditions of the Amazon partnership, but additional taxpayers will not be necessary. He also said that the agreement was not “exclusive” for Amazon.
“The real contract is safely commercially, but in terms of the Australian taxpayer, NBN finances this initiative. It is financed by NBN, not financed by a taxpayer injection.”
Amazon’s Project Kuiper Country Manager Joe Lathan said that he has invested 15 billion dollars in Amazon’s satellite network. Although the plan pricing has not yet been determined, it will be an important focal point.
Telecommunication analyst Paul Budde said that he had reservations by relying on a US -based company for rural communication around Australia, but it was not a realistic alternative.

Amazon was very enthusiastic to get some customers, so I can say that they can make a good deal. Starlink was better established, but they were more indecisive with Elon Musk.
“From this perspective, I am happy that NBN Co chose Amazon instead of Starlink and helps to create better competition in the market, which is always better than having a monopolist like Starlink.”
NBN CO will start a counseling process with stakeholders, including Telcos and community members to determine which wide band plans will be available and how to pricked. Customers who use Sky customer services will now have to pass to Amazon’s Leo satellites.
Carol Bennett, General Manager of the Consumer Group ACHAN, called on the Federal government to establish a round table to establish relations with rural Australians.
“Regional, rural and distant communities are not foreign to transition to new technologies that have recently been affected by the closing of 3G and transition to new technologies that historically switched to the gathering of the sky from the first intermediate-uydu solution of NBN, but we need to learn from the difficulties of these transitions.”
