Nearly 20 Boston-area Starbucks closing, including iconic location

A few Starbucks stores in the Boston region are planned to be closed, including one of the most iconic places in the city.

Closes are part of Starbucks’ wider, billion dollar return plan, which aims to reshape operations and improve long -term performance.

Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol, “Every year, we open and close the coffeehouses for various reasons from financial performance to the end of rental periods,” he said. “This is a more important action that we understand that it will affect partners and customers.”

In addition to the closing of the store, the company announced that this would happen. Eliminate 900 institutional role as part of the restructuring effort.

The Company said that “our customers and partners will close the physical environment or financial performance that we have not seen”.

• 1660-1670 soldiers Field Road, Boston

• 11 West Broadway St., South Boston

• 1948 Beacon St. (Cleveland Circle) Brighton

• 874 Commonwealth Ave, Brookline

• 1 JFK St. (Harvard Square), Cambridge

• 1662 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge

• 661 Boston Post Road East, Marlboro

• 177 College Ave., Medford

• 333 Worcester St., Natick

• 260 Elm St. (Davis Square), Somerville

• 68 Central St., Wellesley
