NEET PG Counselling Delay Leaves Telangana Students In lurch

Hyderabad: NEET PG candidates with All India Quota (AIQ) ranks are facing uncertainty as Telangana is yet to start the state counseling process even though the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) is all set to close the resignation window for Round 1 on December 3.
According to state officials, the final list of eligible candidates is expected to be made on Wednesday morning after receiving legal advice on ongoing cases in which decisions have been made. However, Telangana’s delay has left hundreds of MBBS graduates uncertain about their next steps.
Around 3,040 candidates are waiting to appear for Telangana’s counseling to gain seats in preferred colleges, students said. “If a student studying general medicine in Kakatiya Medical College wants to transfer to NIMS or Osmania Medical College, he must resign and get his original certificates. However, as there was no clear explanation from the government, we were left in a difficult situation,” said a student.
While states including Andhra Pradesh have already started counseling services and are confident of their speedy completion, Telangana students say they are nowhere in the process and are afraid of losing the seats for which they have worked hard.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, two candidates of 1335 and 1600 ranks said they were unable to decide due to the state’s delay and attributed it to ongoing cases related to local status and recent allegations of irregularities in KNRUHS, including the resignation of the Vice-Chancellor.
The students added that the initial seat matrix showing vacancies in specialties, including 19 in departments such as General Medicine and Gynecology, was also not published, further exacerbating the confusion.
KNRUHS Registrar Dr. “There are two cases and we have taken the orders. Accordingly, the final list of eligible candidates will be announced in the first session tomorrow,” Nagarjuna Reddy said.
The students are urging the authorities to expedite the process to prevent loss of opportunities for both state and All India Quota candidates.
