INDIA Bloc Leaders Meet In Mallikarjun Kharge’s Chamber

New Delhi : Floor leaders of various INDIA bloc parties held a meeting at Opposition Leader Mallikarjun Kharge’s chamber in the Parliament House complex here on Wednesday and decided to strongly raise the issue of repeal of MGNREGA and SIR during the Budget session, sources said. Besides Kharge, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, AICC general secretaries Jairam Ramesh and KC Venugopal, DMK’s TR Baalu, Shiv Sena (UBT)’s Arvind Sawant, Samajwadi Party’s Javed Ali Khan, RJD’s Premchand Gupta, CPI(M)’s John Brittas, RSP’s NK Premchandran and others attended the meeting.

Sources said leaders discussed the opposition’s strategy in the Budget session and promised to strongly intensify the repeal of MGNREGA.

The meeting took place a day after senior Congress leaders decided to raise issues related to MGNREGA and SIR in the Budget session of Parliament despite the government refusing to discuss them again.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the party’s parliamentary strategy group held at Congress Parliamentary Party chief Sonia Gandhi’s residence on Tuesday, where Leaders of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Kharge were also present.
