ABC rejects bias allegations before royal commission appearance

The ABC has denied claims of anti-Semitic bias ahead of public media testimony at the Royal Commission on Anti-Semitism and Social Cohesion on Thursday.

In a statement released on Wednesday night, the ABC maintained its reports were “evidence-based, fair, impartial and consistent with its Charter obligations”.

The national broadcaster said that while “some of its content may be challenging”, it “does not gratuitously harm or offend, nor does it permit, condone or encourage bias”.

“The ABC denies allegations that its journalism contributes to anti-Semitism or social division.”

“His reporting is evidence-based, fair, impartial and consistent with Charter Obligations.”

The ABC’s Ombudsman Fiona Cameron and editor-in-chief Gavin Fang will appear at the royal commission on Thursday.

SBS executives will later testify about rising anti-Semitism in Australia.
