Never Sought Caste Shield, Says Kumaraswamy, Hits Out At Siddaramaiah
raichur: Union Minister and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy on Sunday accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of appealing to caste for political convenience.
When attempts were made to remove him from power, Kumaraswamy said he never called for a protest against the Vokkaliga community or sought political protection in the name of caste.
“I never called my community and asked for protection. I never played caste politics to protect my position,” he told reporters.
Referring to Siddaramaiah’s recent statements about his Kuruba background and allegations that some leaders could not tolerate his political rise, HD Kumaraswamy reminded that Janata Dal had made him Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister.
“The same person from the Kuruba community became the Deputy Chief Minister twice and also the Finance Minister while in the Janata Dal. If Deve Gowda had not supported him politically, then who would have taken care of him?” he asked.
He stated that Siddaramaiah is now suffering from mental instability.
He also questioned Siddaramaiah’s claims that the Congress was the only party to elect the CM from the Vokkaliga community. “Which Vokkaliga made him Prime Minister? Who brought him to the Congress and what did he do for them?” Kumaraswamy asked and added that there are many chapters or books that can be written about Siddaramaiah’s political journey.
