Lorraine Kelly gave a rare insight into her marriage to husband Steve Smith, who recently celebrated their 33rd anniversary.

ITV presenter Lorraine, 65, first met her TV cameraman husband while working at TV-AM in the 80s.

The couple, who married in 1992, have a daughter named Rosie, 30, who gave birth to her own child last year.

Although Lorraine tends to keep her private life out of the spotlight when she’s not on air, she explained the reason behind the longevity of her marriage to Steve.

She explained: ‘We never take each other for granted because it’s so easy to do in a long marriage.’

Lorraine continued: ‘It’s important to us that Steve has his own life alongside ours. We both have our own interests and friends. I think it’s important to have your own space. ‘It gives you more to talk about and she makes me laugh, she’s my rock.’

In an interview with MirrorLorraine said they both still ‘like’ each other and Steve even sends suggestive messages while he’s on air.

He explained: ‘That’s important too, all that skinny. This is not the main thing, but it is important.

‘What she does is, on the rare occasions when I wear something a little shorter than normal on my show, she’ll yell at me “Nice tits!” It sends a little message saying: That’s why he appreciates it.’

Last month Lorraine shocked Loose Women panellists by making a nasty confession about her sex life.

She appeared on the ITV show to chat to women about the important Change + Control campaign supporting breast cancer awareness.

‘It’s about knowing our normal. Control yourself. “It’s about knowing your normal,” Lorraine told Kaye, Coleen Nolan, Mariella Frostup and Jane Moore.

Kaye said: ‘The campaign continues today to be recognized by the government as national check your breasts day. ‘

‘That’s great, don’t check your breasts once a year, that’s ridiculous, every two weeks is really up to you, but it’s about your normal. some people have round breasts,’ Lorraine replied.

She added: ‘Whatever suits you, for me I do it once a month but my husband checks my breasts pretty regularly.’

A shocked Coleen gasped and told the live audience: ‘He’s just showing off!’

Lorraine replied: ‘Coleen knows them better than I do. He… knows everything.’

Coleen asked: ‘Oh, is he good at this? I can drop by right away!’

Intrigued, Mariella asked: ‘Is this part of foreplay or just control?’

Lorraine replied: ‘Sometimes it can be… He’s so selfless.’

A shocked Kaye said: ‘I’ve never heard you talk like that before!’

Wanting to emphasize the importance of the speech, Lorraine told him: ‘Anything that gets the message across! Anything.”
