New Friday snow map for Massachusetts, then a possible bigger storm on Monday
Boston 25 Weather team Keeping track of the possibility of more than half a meter of snow Friday in parts of Massachusetts ahead of the possibility of a larger ocean storm on Monday.
Friday will start dry, but unstable winter weather is expected to begin around noon. Inside his last predictionBoston 25 Meteorologist Shiri Spear said a mix of rain and snow in the afternoon will precede the accumulation that will peak in the evening.

The map predicts 4-8 inches of snow for points north of the Massachusetts Turnpike, including southern New Hampshire. 2 to 4 inches of snow are expected south of the Pike, including Boston.
Only 2 inches of snow cover is expected for parts of the South Shore, South Coast and Cape Cod. It looks like the islands will be free from snow.
Light snow in patches may continue into Saturday morning, but overall the weekend looks clear.

By Sunday afternoon, a developing ocean storm could intensify as it moves northeast and bring more snow to the region by early Monday morning.
“This is a look at our preferred track, far enough to bring in the coldest air but close enough to really crank up the winds and waves,” Spear said in his forecast.
On Thursday, Spear said the Global Forecast System model called for more than a foot of snow in the Boston area for this storm, while the European model “mostly missed” by focusing only on southeastern Massachusetts.
“There is still a wide range of predicted totals from various computer models,” Spear wrote on the blog. “Check back as details become clearer to stay prepared.”
