New Jersey Flash Floods: Viral Videos Show Cars Submerged In Plainfield, Scotch Plains; NJ Transit Faces Major Delays | World News

Heavy rains and intense storms brought widespread flash floods in the fields of New Jersey on Monday, Plainfield, Scotch Plains, and with striking videos depicting the streets of underwater and trapped cars for the road 22. The intense weather led to a flash warning for the garden state and other parts of the eastern coast, which led to significant cuts in daily life and public transportation vehicles.

NJ Transit reported delays from Penn Station New York to Trenton for up to 40 minutes in railway service due to amtrak signal problems caused by weather conditions.

National Weather Service (NWS) warned Plainfield and Scotch plains that storms caused 1-2 inch rain and are expected to be 1-2 inch. 2 -inch precipitation rates per hour caused “life -threatening floods” in urban environments, roads and flood deposits.

Impact on Plainfield and Scotch plains:

In Plainfield, social media videos, such as @mathieublue user, caught 22 under water with vehicles stranded in flood waters. Greenbrook road and most side streets were widespread and material damage. PSE & G said that about 5,000 customers remained without electricity until Monday night.

A Scotch Plains resident told the “rain flood” and “violent lightning” and confirmed that 22 routes were closed due to flash floods. The violent weather also affected Westfield. After the storm on July 3 last week, heavy flood, unfortunately killed three people in Plainfield and called on Mayor Adrian Mapp to call an emergency. This previous incident resulted in the first deductions for 45,000 customers.

Authorities still advise people to remain on the roads and to attract excessive attention in places that are flooded as the region passes through the effects of heavy rainfall.
