New map shows shift in expected snow totals for Massachusetts

We are under WEATHER ALERTBoston 25 Weather Team because winter storm warnings, watches and advisories in our area.

“Travel may be very difficult. Hazardous conditions may impact commutes Tuesday morning and evening,” the National Weather Service wrote in a storm warning.

National Weather Service on Monday afternoon Watches posted in some areas have been upgraded to warnings.

In a mid-morning update Monday, Boston 25 Meterologist Shiri Spear updated expected snowfall totals as the storm is “trending later and milder.”

According to Spear’s latest snow map, the best chance for snow accumulation will be in elevations and points to the north. There’s a chance Boston will be covered in snow, but it won’t be until the end of the storm.

Boston 25 Weather Team initially called for snow totaling 3 to 7 inches For inland towns north and west of I-495. These areas will now likely see 1-3 inches.

Northern Massachusetts towns along the borders of New Hampshire and Vermont could see 3-7 inches of snow, while Northern New England could also see up to 7 inches.

The South Shore, South Shore, and Cape Cod and the Islands will likely see only rain due to warming temperatures.

Travel delays are not expected during the early morning commute, but road conditions are expected to deteriorate from mid-morning through the Tuesday evening commute.
