New York mayoral candidate arrested by ICE agents
New York City Auditor and Mayor Candidate Brad Lander was detained for several hours after being arrested in an immigrant court, opposed the latest politician US President Donald Trump’s immigration raids.
Lander, who is one of the 11 democratic candidates who want to replace the current Mayor Eric Adams, was released on Tuesday (Wednesday Wednesday) after the state governor Kathy Hochul went to the Democratic Governor’s Courthouse Building. He left the building with Lander and said the charges against him had fallen.
Lander, the chief finance manager of the city, said that when he was detained by immigration and customs enforcement agents, he accompanied a defendant from the immigrant court. He said he was “good, and lost a button in his shirt while arrested.
“The rule of law is not good and our constitutional democracy is not good, Land Lander added that families were separated outside the court and that immigrants rejected the necessary process in Trump’s immigration pressures.
Deputy Secretary of the Department of Interior Security Tricia McLaughlin said that Lander was attacked by law enforcement officers and that a federal officer was prevented.

Lander refused to accuse. “I certainly didn’t attack an officer,” he said.
