New Zealand woman arrested after two-year-old found in luggage

A woman in New Zealand was arrested after she had a two -year -old girl in her luggage while traveling on a bus.

Police said the officers were invited to a bus stop in Kaiwaka, a small town in the north of the country, after a passenger’s access to the trunk compartment on Sunday.

“The driver was worried when he moved the bag. When the driver opened the suitcase, they discovered the two -year -old girl.” He said.

The 27 -year -old woman was arrested and accused of a child’s ill -treatment/negligence.

The police said, “The little girl was reported to be too hot, but otherwise it seemed to have been physically damaged.” He said.

Medical assessment was taken to the hospital, he added.

The relationship between the woman and the child was not disclosed.

The woman is expected to appear in the North Shore Regional Court on Monday.

The police said, “We want to accept and praise the bus driver who realizes that something is not right and immediately acted, by preventing that there may be a much worse result.” He said.
