Accused murderer faces court after airport arrest

A man appeared in court accused of murder after he was arrested while trying to board an international flight.

Victoria Police said Allan Keys, 67, was arrested at Melbourne International Airport before boarding a flight abroad on Friday afternoon.

He was charged with one count of murder after the body of a missing woman was found in the town of Little River, 44 km southwest of Melbourne, on Saturday.

A 53-year-old woman from Dandenong was reported missing on Thursday after police deemed the circumstances suspicious and did not contact her family as expected.

His body was found near Little River Rd and the Princes Highway at Little River and officers established a crime scene.

The body has not yet been officially identified, but detectives believe it is the missing woman.

Keys, from Patterson Lakes, was taken into custody and appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Saturday.

He will next appear in court on August 10.
