Man dies after falling from city centre hotel as police launch major probe | UK | News

A man tragically died after falling from a building in the city centre.

Greater Manchester Police were called to the scene on Manchester’s Charles Street at around 4pm on Saturday, May 23. Unfortunately, the man, whose identity has not yet been officially determined, was declared dead at the scene.

Reports indicate that the Maldron Hotel was evacuated and a blue forensic tent was set up on the street outside the Maldron Hotel shortly before multiple emergency vehicles and forensic officers were seen at the scene.

While the police claim that the man’s death was an unexplained incident, the investigation continues.

In the hours following the tragic incident, armed officers were seen patrolling the surrounding streets as police continued their investigation.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “At around 4pm today (Saturday 23 May 2026) we were called to reports that a man had fallen from a building on Charles Street in the city centre.”

“Sadly, a dead man was found at the scene. Investigations are currently ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding his unexplained death.”

No further details were released by police.
